Transition your Windows Server 2003 skills and credentials to Windows Server 2008 technologies.

If you are already a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows Server 2003, you can transition your skills to achieve multiple Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credentials on Windows Server 2008.

Your transition path consists of only one exam for earning multiple MCTS certifications on Windows Server 2008. And from there, you can complete the remaining requirements for one or both of the MCITP certifications for Windows Server 2008.

FAQs

Will there still be an MCSA and MCSE on Windows Server 2008?

No. As part of the new generation of Microsoft certifications announced in 2005, the MCSA and MCSE will evolve into several certification options specific to different technologies. The MCSA and MCSE certifications will still be attainable on the previous-version server technologies such as Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003, as long as the exams remain active for those technologies.

MCSA and MCSE will remain valuable certifications as long as the applicable technologies are supported by Microsoft.

Will there still be an MCP, or will it be replaced by MCTS?

The Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification will be phased out and replaced by the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) designation. The Microsoft Certification Program will continue under the same name and will include both designations.
